Between 2005 and 2007, the USAID Guyana Democratic Consolidation and Conflict Resolution (GDCCR) Project provided vital support to Help and Shelter in various activities, including:
- Sustained provision of face to face, hotline and court support counselling to victims of abuse pending coverage of these activities under extension to our GHARP contract to commence 1 July 2006
- Provision of education & training to residents at the shelter to equip them with marketable skills
- Delivery of a comprehensive public education & advocacy programme, raising awareness about all forms of abuse,including trafficking in persons (TIP), encouraging effective implementation of existing legislation &lobbying for the enactment of new legislation where appropriate
- Enhanced networking capacity
- Increased knowledge about the extent of trafficking in persons in Guyana
- Analysis and evaluation of funded activities
