USAID/GDCCR Project Support

Between 2005 and 2007, the USAID Guyana Democratic Consolidation and Conflict Resolution (GDCCR) Project provided vital support to Help and Shelter in various activities, including:

  1. Sustained provision of face to face, hotline and court support counselling to victims of abuse pending coverage of these activities under extension to our GHARP contract to commence 1 July 2006
  2. Provision of education & training to residents at the shelter to equip them with marketable skills
  3. Delivery of a comprehensive public education & advocacy programme, raising awareness about all forms of abuse,including trafficking in persons (TIP), encouraging effective implementation of existing legislation &lobbying for the enactment of new legislation where appropriate
  4. Enhanced networking capacity
  5. Increased knowledge about the extent of trafficking in persons in Guyana
  6. Analysis and evaluation of funded activities
