Help & Shelter is delighted to announce that it is to receive $3m from the government to cover the cost of rewiring of and repairs to its Homestretch Avenue crisis service office that was damaged by fire on 28th December 2009.
Help & Shelter extends sincere thanks to those who have already made donations to assist in fire recovery. These have been applied towards the cost of cleaning the smoke-blackened office and its contents to so that they could be put back in order and some basic administrative functions could be resumed.
The rewiring and repair work will be begun as soon as possible and a further announcement will be made when the office is ready to be re-opened to clients.
In the meantime, counselling services will continue to be provided at the room so kindly made available by the Guyana Citizens’ Initiative at their office at 77 Light Street, Alberttown, Georgetown.
Help & Shelter is most grateful to the government for this latest expression of its support for the work that the organisation does to support victims of abuse and reduce all forms of violence in Guyana.
